On High – Poem

Poem

I’m trying to keep up,

Trying to be ford tough,

But I’m still rough,

Around the edges,

Mixed with bad intentions,

Hoping that I mentioned,

And followers pay attention,

Because secretly I’m insecure,

But that’s no secret I’m sure,

So Beastmode is my mode,

And I’m letting go of the old,

My passion is to break the mold,

End on a hot streak and not cold,

Moving in silence, I’m humble now,

Counting my blessing and asking how,

How can I be great when I’m a disgrace,

It can only be grace,

So it can only be by faith,

That I keep pace,

Running in this race,

No longer tripping over these mistakes,

Pushing through these lies,

For my strength comes from on high.

Faith To Succeed – Poem

Poem

Sometimes you must believe,

In order to achieve,

Open the door grab the keys,

Don’t look back just leave,

The darkness will fade suddenly,

The light shines and you see,

Your faith rewarded immediately,

You flutter and your knees get weak,

Because you made it through on two feet,

You look down at the footprints and you see,

Amazed by the sand asking how could this be,

The prints are bigger than your feet,

And it hits you amazingly,

It wasn’t on your strength, it was the mustard seed,

For the yellow stain of faith in Him cause you to believe,

Now I’m spitting on a different beat,

Cause this is what happen to me,

I was trying to step out into the deep so I jump and took the leap,

Prior I feared walking on water because I thought I might sink,

But I stepped out and now I lead,

Because I follow the one who always succeeds.

It Doesn’t Matter If Your Black or White – Poem

Poem

I’ve been socially trained to socially refrain; from who I want to be.

I’ve been chained chewed up and assimilated to be less than me.

I’m black and black is beautiful but I married differently,

I choose where my heart went and that between me, God and She.

We started mixed black and white family,

And soon will have kids soon so I’m going to have to lead,

Letting the next generation know what it means to be mixed bread,

And socially I’m going to have to speak,

About race, social justice and everything in between,

Share my pain about slavery, white privilege and the recent cop killing,

I got to go to the Lord and ask the King,

For the strength so when I protest I don’t have to repent,

Because I may regret some actions if my fist gets to tense,

For the good book says to be angry and sin not,

So I’m using my voice to fight back that what I learned from Hip Hop,

But I’ve learned from both black and white,

Picked up skills both wrong and right,

So my mind and heart are hard to control when it takes flight,

And I have to hold onto truth that comes from the light,

For even a small flame in the dark is bright,

And I have to remember there is equality in Christ,

So I stand by the words injustice anywhere is threat to justice everywhere,

Even though there isn’t justice everywhere,

But that’s what we strive for as family and people,

A multi-ethnic generation who loves all people.
